- ACoS · Advertising Cost of Sale
Advertising Cost of Sale (ACoS) is the share of advertising-driven revenue you spend on advertising, worked out as ad spend ÷ ad sales × 100.
- Amazon PPC · Pay-Per-Click advertising
Amazon PPC (pay-per-click), mainly Sponsored Products, is Amazon's advertising system where you bid to show ads in search results and pay only when a shopper clicks.
- ASIN · Amazon Standard Identification Number
An ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) is the unique 10-character code Amazon assigns to every product in its catalogue.
- Brand Registry · Amazon Brand Registry
Amazon Brand Registry is the programme that gives trademark owners control over their brand's listings plus tools for protection, advertising, and analytics.
- Break-even ACoS
Break-even ACoS is the advertising cost of sale at which an ad-driven sale makes zero profit, equal to your profit margin before ad spend.
- BSR · Best Sellers Rank
Best Sellers Rank (BSR) is the number Amazon assigns to a product to show how well it sells within its category, where 1 is the best-selling item.
- Buy Box
The Buy Box is the 'Add to Cart' and 'Buy Now' section of a listing, and the seller who wins it gets the sale when a shopper clicks buy.
- COGS · Cost of Goods Sold
Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) is what it costs you to produce or buy the units you actually sold in a period, before marketplace fees and advertising.
- Dropshipping
Dropshipping is a retail model where you sell products without holding inventory: when a customer orders, your supplier ships the item directly to them.
- FBA · Fulfillment by Amazon
Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is Amazon's service where you ship inventory to Amazon's warehouses and they handle storage, packing, shipping, returns, and customer service.
- FBA reimbursements
FBA reimbursements are refunds Amazon owes sellers when inventory is lost, damaged, or mis-charged inside Amazon's fulfilment network.
- FBM · Fulfilled by Merchant
Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) is the model where you list on Amazon but store, pack, and ship every order yourself instead of using Amazon's warehouses.
- Honeymoon period
The honeymoon period is the informal name for a new Amazon listing's early weeks, when the algorithm gives it extra visibility while it gathers performance data.
- IPI · Inventory Performance Index
The Inventory Performance Index (IPI) is Amazon's 0 to 1,000 score for how efficiently an FBA seller manages inventory, based on excess stock, sell-through, stranded inventory, and in-stock rates.
- Landed cost
Landed cost is the full per-unit cost of getting a product to the point where it can be sold: factory price plus freight, duties, insurance, and handling.
- Lead time
Lead time is the total time between placing an order with a supplier and having sellable stock, covering production, shipping, and check-in.
- Listing hijacking
Listing hijacking is when another seller attaches their offer to your Amazon listing, usually with a counterfeit or lookalike product, and competes for its Buy Box.
- MOQ · Minimum Order Quantity
Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) is the smallest number of units a supplier is willing to sell in one order.
- Niche Score
Niche Score is LumaiScope's proprietary 0 to 100 rating of how attractive a product niche is, weighing real demand against competition and barriers to entry.
- Organic rank
Organic rank is a product's unpaid position in Amazon's search results for a given keyword, driven by relevance and sales performance rather than ad spend.
- Private label
Private label is the model where you manufacture a generic product under your own brand and sell it as a unique listing, rather than reselling someone else's brand.
- Profit margin
Profit margin is the percentage of the selling price you keep after costs, calculated as profit ÷ revenue × 100, with gross and net versions depending on which costs you subtract.
- Referral fee
The referral fee is Amazon's commission on each sale, charged as a percentage of the total sale price, with the rate set by product category.
- Reverse ASIN · Reverse ASIN lookup
A reverse ASIN lookup takes a product's ASIN and returns the keywords it ranks or advertises for, which effectively reads a competitor's keyword strategy.
- Sell-through rate
Sell-through rate is the share of your available inventory that sells over a period, worked out as units sold ÷ units available × 100, and it gauges how fast stock moves.
- TACoS · Total Advertising Cost of Sale
Total Advertising Cost of Sale (TACoS) measures ad spend against total revenue, both advertising and organic sales, rather than ad-driven sales alone.
