Listing hijacking

Listing hijacking is when another seller attaches their offer to your Amazon listing, usually with a counterfeit or lookalike product, and competes for its Buy Box.

Amazon listings are shared by design: any seller claiming to sell the same product can offer against your detail page. Hijackers exploit this by listing counterfeits or near-copies under your ASIN, undercutting your price, and taking sales through the Buy Box you built.

The damage compounds: hijackers win sales directly, their inferior product collects bad reviews on your listing, and the price pressure can drag down your margin even after they leave. Defences include Brand Registry, keeping proof of authenticity ready, and monitoring offers on your ASINs so you catch new sellers within hours rather than weeks.

Why it matters

A hijacked listing loses sales, reviews, and pricing power at the same time, and the faster you detect it the cheaper it is to fix.
