Organic rank
Organic rank is a product's unpaid position in Amazon's search results for a given keyword, driven by relevance and sales performance rather than ad spend.
Amazon's ranking algorithm rewards listings that convert for a search term: sales attributed to a keyword, click-through and conversion rates, price competitiveness, and stock availability all feed it. Rank is per keyword, so one product holds hundreds of ranks at once.
Organic rank compounds. Sales improve rank, better rank brings more traffic, and more traffic brings more sales. That loop is why launches lean on PPC and promotions: the paid sales prime the organic flywheel, and TACoS falling over time is the sign it's working.
Why it matters
Organic sales carry no per-click cost, so the share of revenue that comes from organic rank largely decides a product's long-term margin.
