IPI · Inventory Performance Index
The Inventory Performance Index (IPI) is Amazon's 0 to 1,000 score for how efficiently an FBA seller manages inventory, based on excess stock, sell-through, stranded inventory, and in-stock rates.
Amazon uses IPI to decide how much warehouse space you deserve. Fall below the threshold Amazon currently applies, which it reviews periodically, and your storage capacity gets limited and overage fees can follow.
The score rewards balance: enough stock to stay in stock, not so much that units sit and age. Fixing stranded listings and clearing long-idle inventory are usually the fastest ways to lift it.
Why it matters
A weak IPI caps how much inventory you can send in, which can turn a strong sales month into a stockout you weren't allowed to prevent.
