Private label
Private label is the model where you manufacture a generic product under your own brand and sell it as a unique listing, rather than reselling someone else's brand.
You source a product, often from suppliers on Alibaba, AliExpress, or Temu, add your branding and improvements, and own the listing. It's the dominant model for serious Amazon FBA businesses because you control the brand and aren't sharing a listing with other sellers.
It takes more upfront investment and research than reselling, which is why product validation matters so much.
Why it matters
Private label gives you a defensible, brand-owned listing, but the upfront inventory commitment makes picking the right product critical.
