ASIN · Amazon Standard Identification Number

An ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) is the unique 10-character code Amazon assigns to every product in its catalogue.

You'll find an ASIN in a product's URL, just after /dp/, and in the product details section. It points to one specific listing, so it's the handle that almost every research tool uses to pull data about a product.

Each product variation and each marketplace can have its own ASIN.

Why it matters

The ASIN is the key that links a product to its sales rank, reviews, keywords, and competitors, so it's where most research starts.
