How to Write Bullet Points and Descriptions That Sell

How to write product bullet points and descriptions that convert: leading with benefits, answering buyer objections, and using Amazon A+ Content and dropshipping product copy to close the sale.

Last updated: July 2026

Once a shopper clicks, your bullets and description have one job: answer every question standing between them and the buy button. Most listings fail here by describing the product to the seller instead of selling it to the buyer.

Write bullets that lead with benefits

Bullet points are where buyers look to confirm a product does what they need. The pattern that works is simple: state the benefit, then back it with the feature that delivers it.

  • Lead with the benefit. 'Stays cold for 24 hours' pulls a buyer in. 'Double-walled vacuum insulation' on its own doesn't. Give them the benefit first, then the proof.
  • Answer the obvious objections. Whatever makes a shopper hesitate, size, fit, compatibility, durability, address it directly in a bullet.
  • Be specific. Numbers and concrete details read as true. 'Holds 32oz' beats 'large capacity' every time.
  • Front-load the important ones. Many shoppers read the first two bullets and skim the rest, so put your strongest points at the top.

Descriptions and A+ Content

The description is your room to tell the fuller story: how the product fits into the buyer's life, what makes it different, and why it's worth the price. On Amazon, brand-registered sellers can use A+ Content to replace plain text with images, comparison tables, and formatted sections, which lifts conversion and cuts returns by setting clear expectations. If you have access to it, use it.

On a dropshipping product page you have that freedom by default. Break the copy up with images and short video, keep paragraphs short, and build the page so a skimmer and a reader both come away convinced.

Keep it honest

Overselling costs more than it earns. A description that promises more than the product delivers buys you a sale and a return, a bad review, and on Amazon a ranking hit that follows. Sell the product you actually have, clearly and confidently, and let accurate expectations do the rest.
